The “R” value increases each time an update is released for a specific version year.
For example, when Intuit first launched QuickBooks Pro 2020 it would have been considered QuickBooks Pro 2020 R1. When a new version year of QuickBooks is first launched it is referred to as Release 1 or R1.
Think of them as maintenance releases issued throughout the course of a QuickBooks version year to help keep your software free of any issues. Intuit refers to these updates as Releases. QuickBooks updates are periodically released by Intuit to keep your current QuickBooks software up-to-date fixing issues within the software and at times introducing new functionality.
